About Dr. David Martin, Licensed Trauma Therapist

I’m Dr. David Martin, and I’m glad you’re here.

I work collaboratively with my clients, empowering them to find balance, wholeness, and greater happiness in life. My broad experience both in a variety of psychological treatment modalities (IFS, EMDR and Somatic Experiencing), as well as in working with a wide range of clients, enables me to provide therapy that is both deeply compassionate and well-rooted in psychological science.

I graduated from the University of Kansas with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology with concentrations in Positive Psychology, Attachment Theory and Mindfulness. I have fifteen years of experience providing psychotherapy and before starting a private practice have worked in college counseling centers and Veteran Administration Hospitals across the United States.

Most recently I was the Clinical Director at the Creighton University Counseling Center. I have received high-quality training and supervision in several empirically supported treatment models including Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR and Somatic Experiencing based Psychodynamic Therapy.

I have particular expertise working with Trauma, Grief, Depression, Anxiety, OCD, ADHD, Couples, Career struggles, and issues with Self-esteem and Identity. I enjoy working with couples, adults of all ages and teens.

I am passionate about helping my clients achieve greater self-compassion and understanding. I’m here to help you create stronger, more fulfilling relationships, make peace with yourself, and start living a life of fulfillment and connection.

I have Studied Zen Buddhism in Kyoto Japan, worked in college counseling centers across the United States, completed  level 2 training through the IFS institute, an EMDRIA approved EMDR training and a Somatic Experiencing Training through the traumahealing institute
